About Camilla Engdahl
My name is Camilla and Im a potter.
My ceramic story began at a folk high school when I was 19 years old. An Aesthetic line and the opportunity to
try different materials, but I already knew that ceramics was what I liked the most. At the folk high school, Capellagården, a craft school in the spirit of Carl Malmsten, also followed the boarding
school for a couple of years. At that school, they also had a wonderful garden with vegetables cooked for students
and everyone on site. Oat-scones on 10-cup coffee and asparagus in season are not forgotten. The school years after that then continued at HDK in Gothenburg. As I thought then, I needed to "get out of the mud"
and thus went Interior Architecture there for 5 years. Very fun and good years. (In all schools to be added) As an educated person, I have tried my hand at it a bit. The interior was allowed to be a side track, but the design
of products interested me. For a few years in the early 2000s, I worked as a designer at Lagerhaus. Those were
educational years, intense and developing. At that time I had not worked at the computer at all, so most of the
patterns and products were drawn in sketch pads and large sheets. After that, I have also taken assignments for
Sagaform and designed a series of tea cups, among other things. For the company Crate & Barrel in the US,
there has also been a series of products in stoneware and earthenware.
The design Anyway, here I am now. Ceramics are my life and what I am passionate about. My own trace in the design is influenced
by the 50s and 80s, so I'm probably a bit of a retro nostalgic. Combined with my own design language, where the
education at HDK in interior design, makes me like to see my products as functional and want them to work in several
contexts and style environments. Our homes are in a constant mix and development. The more modern combined with the
practically functional ceramic tradition is a good starting point and where I want to be.
Products and projects In addition to the products you see here in the webshop and in my workshop, there have been several assignments for
restaurants and cafes, among other things. It is very fun to see barrels and cups used daily in various businesses.
I also have a collaboration with L: A Bruket, the nice skin care company in Varberg. We now
work together with a number of fun products for their stores. Workshops The clay studio is at my home address. Incredibly convienient to have it close, although constantly too small in size.
Since 2021 I have started up Clay studio in the neighbour city Hjo. Here I have my products for sale, but mainly its a
place for courses and for groups of people to come and try the material clay. Read more at Clay.nu. You can see more about opening hours and other matters concerning the workshop under "Hands in the workshop" This was a bit of my background. Welcome here to the workshop to see the business and feel the materials and products. Camilla
